Butterflies.

The other night, I was talking to one of my friends, and we started discussing our actions and their conclusions.
Our thoughts lead us to the chaos theory, and I've been extremely interested in it since then.
The flapping of a single butterfly's wing today produces a tiny change in the state of the atmosphere. Over a period of time, what the atmosphere actually does diverges from what it would have done. So, in a month's time, a tornado that would have devastated the Indonesian coast doesn't happen. Or maybe one that wasn't going to happen, does.

I keep thinking about it. It implies that, when anything happens, the reason we might associate to the event has actually no correlation with that. Therefore, all of our action will not have direct consequences in our lives. Does it mean that everything we do is pointless? Or completely selfish for it only directly affects our mood? I can't decide.
I've been thinking about the butterfly effect so much that I'm thinking to get a tattoo dedicated to it.
